Usually individuals take on the project of making a quilt because of family. Handing down hand-made quilts designed by ancestors is a famous tradition. A great deal of design and thought are engaged in creating a masterpiece of this magnitude.

The fabric that is used to make quilts can be anything. This is the starting focus of a great quilt. The fabric needs to represent the ideal behind the quilt. Cut the material in strips of circles, squares, triangles or any shape desired. There are quilt patterns that can be found. Lay the cut out fabric and design the way the quilt will look. The straight pieces need to be on the outside.

After the design is laid out, turn them upside down. Then mark a line for your seam with a fabric pencil.  Apply a fabric pen to two pieces of material. Then sew along the line, make sure everything is straight. Usually, quilts are made in sections of one-foot squares.  Continue this method until a one-foot square is achieved. Remain creating these squares until the quilt is suitable.

Quilt frames are the next step. The quilt is to be placed on the frames with tacks. Be sure that the material is snugly in place and cannot move. Place a weight over the whole back.
Then fasten the quilt top over the weight firmly and tack this into place. After the needle is threaded with a small knot then start quilting. When quilting pull the needle through with a sharp jerk. Repeat this process with the frames and quilting until the quilt is complete.
