PaperFor a beginning project, a cup is ideal. First take a piece of plain paper and fold it as a triangle. Take the upper corner and bring it down to meet the bottom angle. Next unfold the paper revealing a slight line. After that is completed crease the angle up so the point encounters the rim of the paper at the line that was made. Then bend the other corner towards the curve you just created until it meets. Fold the upper wing towards the front. Bend the other wing towards the back. As soon as the top is open the project is finished. This is a great project for a class party; everyone will have a paper cup.

Origami can open up the creative mind of every individual. There are books and patterns for beginners. As the person practices, patterns may not need to be used anymore. The most advanced techniques are explored through trial and error. Cranes are the most popular figure to start with. Then as the person advances with skill, they can be creating gold fish, different sports balls and even pairs of shoes. There are also 3D origamis.
