Jello shots make a fun addition to any party. They are a great way to cool down at a summer cookout. Serving jello shots takes a little more preparation than other shots, so you’ll want to plan ahead.

First, you will want to purchase boxes of Jello. The small boxes of Jello typically come in 3 ounce packages. If you are planning on making more than one box, it is quicker to do all of one flavor. However, you can do multiple flavors as well. This will require that you boil each one separately though.

For each 3 ounce package of Jello you will need six ounces of water and six ounces of vodka. Some people prefer to use a different type of alcohol in their Jello shots, although vodka typically works the best. You can use rum for your Jello shots, but sometimes this makes them too sweet. There are many variations of Jello shots that include different combinations of alcohol and mixers. Feel free to be creative!

The other thing you will need for your Jello shots is some small cups. Most people prefer to make Jello shots in paper cups, such as Dixie bathroom cups. However, you can use small plastic cups or even shot glasses. If you are preparing a large number of shots, paper bathroom cups are typically the easiest to use.

Once you have gathered all your supplies, you will want to take the water and vodka and put it in a pan. Heat on high until the mixture is boiling. Add the powdered Jello mix and stir until it dissolves. Remove from heat.

You will then need to pour this mixture into the individual cups. Some people prefer to spray the cups with an unflavored non-stick cooking spray. This is up to you. It’s also wise to put the cups in muffin trays, as this helps keep them from making a mess. Do not try to cool the Jello and then separate it into cups. This will not work well.

Once you have all the shots in the cups, you will want to place them in the refrigerator to set. Try not to move them while they are cooling. Cooling times vary depending on the alcohol content. Vodka Jello shots can take around five hours to be completely set.

Remove from the refrigerator and serve!
