How to make grape juice

Making your own grape juice instead of buying it is a very simple process. Usually people that have access to grapes in their natural environment want to make grape juice. You just need few utensils: a colander, a large stockpot, a potato masher, cheesecloth and a rubber band.

Grapes Once you have the ripe grapes, wash them thoroughly through the colander. Then rinse each grape taking it away from the stem, and put them in the pot. Don’t use green unripe and old shriveled grapes. The secret to making the best juice is to choose the best grapes!

When you have enough grapes in the pot, mash them with the potato masher so the juice begins to flow. Cook the grapes and the juice, and bring them to a boil and then simmer for 10 to 12 minutes. Before it boils, mash again as much as possible the remaining grapes. Then, get another large pot, put over it the cheesecloth, and keep it in place with the rubber band. Put the pot over a plate, so it will catch any juice that could splash out.

Strain the grapes and juice, and ladle this mixture over the cheesecloth to strain. Leave it overnight so the juice will come down.

The next day, scoop the grape gunk from the cheesecloth, remove the cheesecloth from the pot and pour the juice into containers to keep it refrigerated. Remember, it is natural juice with no preservatives. Enjoy it!
